Question 7 of 40... I've never seen any of them.... and there isn't an "Probably all of these" option :P

I ended up with "Colorful-Disciplined"... which sounds about right.

Cute quiz for fun. I wouldn't put a great deal of merit behind it as a serious study or "guild finder," though. As many have stated, there are several questions that are going for a laugh, have no "middle" answer or do not point towards any particular guild/play style attribute. I'm colorful-disciplined like the majority here.

You're the more experienced at dealing with people and groups than I, but I'd suggest you start with a grid of the two axes you're measuring: content rating, discipline rating. The result seems to suggest that is there, but many of the questions do not allow for plotting along those axes. Provide scenarios with the polar responses:
"A guild mate tells a pornographic joke during a boss fight. Do you..."
A) Laugh so hard you lose focus and die (risque/freestyle)
B) Chuckle and keep fighting (colorful/discipline)
C) Stop fighting to report the member to an officer(stern/unfocused)
D) Leave the raid (conservative/low priority)

Poor example, but you get the point.

As for the naked SO coming in during the raid, you forgot the *obvious* answer: remove your pants and continue the raid with him/her in your lap. :-)

SaintPeter -

"Wizard hat and robes" is a reference to an infamous /gu vs /g mistell. As usual, google has the dirt.

But you've got a good point. Scrolling back through the responses here, everyone who posted their result is either Colorful/Disciplined or Risque/Intense (with one Colorful/Mellow exception). Of course, that could be skew from the general demographic likely to hang out on blogs written by people in the gaming community, but it seems odd that there aren't any other combinations.

Heh, my guild ended up running through this without knowing that it was from you. Almost all of my guild came up as Colorful-Diciplined, which is not really a shock, and a few came up as Risque-Intense, which made sense for the people in that category. However, the math does seem broken in as that it didn't seem to be possible to get "Risque-Diciplined" or "Colorful-Intese", both of which I think would have fit some of our players. We had some people go back and try and get a hybrid result and could not. The questions that seemed to only talk about the feel of the guild didn't seem to toggle. I don't think that it always follows that if you're a hard-core raider that you'll want "Risque" conversation - we have plenty of players who are counter examples. You can read the full conversation here:
http://www.bellumaeternus.com/Forums/viewtopic/t=24089.html

On a personal level, as a guild leader, I was wondering what all the possible outcomes were. How many possible metrics were there for the culture and for the playstyle. I was disapointed that there wasn't an explanation of all the possible results and/or the methadology. I am reminded of the Meyers-Briggs personality typing and I found it illuminating to read about other personality type.

While I know it wasn't really intended to be used seriously, I found the possible "jokey" responses to be really ambigious. What does it mean to say that you "Grab your wizard cap and robes"? Does that mean you're really into the game or a LARPer?

you made an understandable misread of the question, Tovin. it's your character, not your kid, that it asks if you'd name after a porn star. although your post does suggest that there could be a question about using in-game names in real life - to name your kids/pets/giant cardboard npcs/self.

I'm Risque Intense! So totally NOT me!

Risque indicates players and guilds who prefer a mostly uncensored environment. - My GUILD can be uncensored cause I know they're not going to do anything overly inappropriate to outsiders, and mostly I play in RL friends guilds. So if one of us does something horribly bad, someone will knock on your door in 20 minutes and sit you down and explain it! The outside MMO world has been DESIGNED to allow players to not get along and still thrive. So there's few people who are kind for the sake of advancement. This is stupid. People are not good to each other, and in a community environment where not forced to cooperate, will screw each other over with abandon.

Intense players and guilds are organized, and expect a high level of attention to what's happening in the game. - My guilds are always casual, hardly raid, and again, RL friends. So our level of attention is calling each other and making sure they didn't fall asleep or get enticed away for nookie (more often the case) when heals or tanks fail to operate! A few group wipes and we're off to doing something else. Raids are never a possibility because of kids, jobs, time in game restrictions, but mostly, they're just not fun.

For the questions:
The pants options needs to either specify naked down there, or shorts. Or give you an idea of what you're answering a little better.

The movie to quote from question I don't get. I've only seen American Pie, (and my husband made me watch Clerks!) and only once, so I wouldn't get a quote from any of 'em.

I don't get the name your kid after a porn start question either. What does porn have to do with gaming? I would totally name my kid after an NPC though!

Apparently I'm also a bit of a prude. The played while drunk or high question....drunk yes, never been high and I don't want to be lumped into that catagory, OR play with my friends while they are in such a state.

But as always, I love your writing Sanya!

I know it doesnt suit the MSRB ratings or what ever they are called but for the sake of the quiz you shoouldnt lump porn in with violence.

I bet maybe only 50% of combat mmo gamers want to see naked boobies. I bet 90% would like to see a few heads and arms get lopped off in battle.

BTW I was colorful disaplined - which seemed accurate(even if i cant spell it.).

You definitely need a "sometimes" option to the do you wear pants question.
