Holy Crap! Want!

I… I want a pair. No, really.

(We got a buyer for our house, we’ve made an offer on another, it’s nine degrees outside, and I have sundry other bits of personal drama going on – pardon the unnatural quiet around here.)

This is one of those long-prophesized inventions that has the promise of amazing pros but also the risk of serious cons to personal health, social interaction, public productivity, and a new gap between the have’s and the have nots.

Your 9 degrees has ours beat by 8 here in Denver. Stay warm!

Good luck on closing on your house!

It’s 5 degrees here. :( Congrats on getting a buyer for your house, though! That’s huge in this market.

“So there I was, surfing with my EyeNet, and BAM! Pop-up swarm! I had to take out my contacts and soak them in reboot solution. I can still see spots where that stupid dancing chick was advertising home mortgages.”

    Welcome to the future.

Me too! That looks like if it suceeds it’ll spawn an entirely new industry, and god I’d love to be a part of that.

The concept of having an on-demand HUD for my everyday life? The geek in me squeals in delight. Now, to get a body like Arnold…

Wow, today just keeps on giving. That is sweet.

….Considering regular contacts make me nastily sick (a small percentage of folks can’t tolerate them at all), and considering what folks do on the freeway when driving which you can see…

This scares me. Folks watching TV on their eye lenses, with tiny, invisible speakers in their ears, while driving….

@Merlyn: That’s one possible downside, yes. A possible upside is driving software that would enhance street signs; put GPS directions in your vision; enhance light levels to spot potholes, pedestrians, and animals; etc.

Ever since I saw the Lost In Space movie, where this sort of technology was illustrated in use as assistance to fighter pilots as a HUD I’ve been drooling over the concept! Now I’d rather not get into fully immersive Wii slinging antics to manage a dungeon crawl (or heaven forbid organize a social gathering). But certainly this could be used in simpler ways to streamline interfaces that are falling behind the range of uses and possible actions MMOs give you these days.

    Good luck with the houses!

Wish they would work on getting something like this for blind people, so my dad could see again. :/

If you find yourself getting stressed, just concentrate on one issue at a time, and you’ll be able to tackle it all in no time.

    Sac of balls!
