Like MMOs, social networks and internet dating sites are fun and exciting at first, but then the environment is spoiled by those wishing to exploit, capitalize, undermine or in general, grief all the patrons of the game/network/site. Even when the service/site is filtered, policed and everything electronic can be done to keep the original intent, someone slips through the cracks, exploits the system, ruins someone's life, smirches the reputation of the site/service and we hear about it in the news as a "breakdown" or "breach" of the system. Whatever someone wishes to create in this world, regardless of how noble or useful, there are decency-challenged twits waiting to bring it crashing down for no good reason. What impact it has will be short-lived.
