And This Is That Thing, With the Pictures, From This Morning.

If you have a Reddit login, I’m whoring my article out there: Vote whoring

If you don’t, you can go directly to the page: http://www.examiner.com/x-5353-Baltimore-MMORPG-Examiner

The Examiner, best as I can tell, is a kind of blog consortium for local markets. Much to my disgust, I’m pretty close to Baltimore these days (a dear internet friend once referred to this as the People’s Republic of Maryland, and while I’m just about as liberal as you can get and not be really freaking annoying? This place is indeed one welfare program too far), so I applied to be their pet MMO blogger.

There was an actual background check to pass first. They officially have higher standards than anyone I’ve ever worked with in my LIFE, and that includes the Department of the Navy.

I am paid by how many readers I can amass, so anyone who subscribes can get a personal thank you from my slobbery and slightly incontinent thirteen and a half year old beagle, whose kibble you will indirectly be purchasing. Assuming you’re ever in East Bumblebunny, Maryland.

For the first article, I wanted it to be light and fun and positive in nature. As you may have noticed from this blog, I don’t actually DO images, so I thought I was cool with one photo. Bzzt, wrong. I freaked a little, because I didn’t know how many happily mated gamers I could find on no notice. For so many people to come through in under two hours, right before lunch on a Wednesday, was awesome. You guys are pretty easy on the eyes, too! Thanks again to everyone who is so bored at work that they’re pinging my blog at 10 AM EDT.

Will only subscriptions via email work, or can I simply add it to my RSS feed…

    Honestly… I don’t know. I’ll ask my overlord!

My favorite description of Baltimore (I live in NoVa) comes from Anthony Bourdain in Kitchen Confidential. I don’t have the book in front of me, but his description is like it is a wistful city where the residents longingly look only a couple miles north (NY) or south (DC) to see a city where they would rather be.

Baltimore’s not THAT bad… granted, I’m biased, since I was born there, but still.

    It’s not like we’re (fill-in-the-name-of-city-that-the-reader-doesn’t-like).

And you could always be in Glen Burnie. *runs*

Looks like the Examiner will be added to things I read.

    *sigh*

I was actually writing up stuff for my application to the Examiner. Now their going to be flooded with MMO applications.

Grats and you should get a nice following there.
Piss on you for making it harder for me to get in now. (I mean that with much love and tongue in cheek)

‘People’s Republic of Maryland’? Sounds like you’ve never been to Cambridge. ;-)
