Quick! I Need Pics Or It Didn't Happen

Mar 11 2009 Published by under Related To Work I'm Doing

One of my projects apparently needs photos to illustrate. I’ve got one, and I thought that was sufficient, but I’ve been advised to get two more.

So, it’s 10 AM EDT on Wed. I need to submit by noon. If you are a pretty devoted MMO gamer, with multiple maxed toons, AND in a long term relationship, I need a picture of you and your mate. Please note that I have not been gender specific. Love is love. Bonus if you and the mate met in an MMO, since the one image I already have is of a gamer and his non-gaming wife. But I’m really not picky since I’ve only got two hours to make this happen.

I can be more specific about how I’m using it to the people who send pictures, and I’ll tell the rest of you in a couple days.

Thanks.

EDIT TO ADD: I love you guys, SO MUCH. I mean that. No one comes through in a crunch like Bee Eaters.

My fiancee and I are avid MMOers, I added a link to our blog that we have woefully neglected. There’s a very silly, small picture of us on the about page of that site and I can probably dig some more up if you contact me at the email address I included.

There’s an example of a pic, me and the wife have many others. We have been together and player MMO’s together for 10 years.

Not sure if this meets your criteria, but I thought I’d try.

Not entirely sure I count – I’ve only got one max-level character. I do, however, have quite a few alts that are getting close (several were max-level before the release of WotLK), and I’m GM of a raiding guild that’s cleared all 25-man content in WoW (cue obligatory “that’s not hard”). Anyway, pictures of my and my wife at our wedding:

We’ll have been together for eight years as of next week, so I think that counts as “long term” :) And although we met in RL, she is also a gamer, currently worrying me with cackles of joy as she gets snipe headshots on super mutants in fallout 3. She’s got a bunch of WoW characters as well, but FO3 has seen them languishing for a while.

Hey Sanya – if you still have Aladora’s (of Deus Vincit and DAoC movie fame) contact information she may be able to get stuff from Shilana and Aramil – two guildies who have many max characters and have been together since I’ve been in DV (about 4 years). Unfortunately our guild site is down so I can’t leave a PM or get her a message.

Is it important to have multiple maxed level characters? My husband and I met in EQ 9 years ago and gaming is our primary hobby, but we’ve yet to hit max level in any game (78 in EQ2!) as we both have altitis….

  • sanya says:

Loredena, I hate to tell you, but 78 is pretty freaking dedicated :)

And let me tell you about altitis. I adore LOTRO, but I had to review it on a press account, because my five alts all have to take turns being leveled so they can get their crafting quests. I used to mock Scott for that constantly, and now I’m the monkey.

  • Loredena says:

I know, but it’s still funny — half a dozen MMOs, and we’ve never made it to max before. I’m wondering what it will be like! (In fairness, 3 of our 9 tradeskillers have made it to 80 so far).

I totally get it with LotRO — my highest avatars is, umm, 25 I think — but I got my cook maxed out at adv level 15! (I did have an escort for the last quest — no way I could have done that one solo). And all my other crafters pretty much made it to tier 4 (yes, I had one of each, why do you ask? ;p) (Pre-Moria, haven’t gone back yet).

  • I’ve linked to my flickr with shots of my wife and I as WitchHunters at PAX07 for WAR. We play tons of games together including D&D, board, card games as well. We met online and played MMOs together before getting “serious”. I know this is too late for your deadline, but for future reference, drop a line!

  • Kendricke says:

Sorry I missed the deadline, Sanya. I’m marrying my gaming partner in a couple of months. We both have multiple level 80′s in Everquest II and are officers in one of the oldest gaming guilds around (founded in 1998, still going strong).

  • kwip says:

    Aww, I can’t believe I missed this… Oh, wait… MAXED toons. NM. =P

  • Aquilonia says:

Aww I am sorry I missed this too =( Hubby and I met you in Vegas in 2006 and have some really good shots as well as a shot of our toons we just used for a promo on Gaheris for our Valentines Event we just ran on DAoC.

  • Ebenezer says:

I missed this as well. My wife and I have been powergaming MMOs together since I paid a co-worker $10 for his Ultima Online Beta CD so I could get my wife off my own Beta account. (summer 97) Of course she won that battle and I’m the one that had to roll a new toon..

  • Calarius says:

Sorry, but it’s Friday evening, and I’m just now finally getting to read this. I would have happily included a picture of the 2 of us wearing our Level 60 Epic T-Shirts of Ganking, or any other combination of gaming shirts.

We met over Thanksgiving dinner 9 years (going on 10 now) ago, over Final Fantasy 9. We grew closer playing Diablo II on Battle.net during the week (and Goth clubs on the weekends). She watched over my shoulder as I tried out World of Warcraft, and it was lust at first sight when I first walked into Stormwind. I guess we are a “typical” gaming couple.

  • Sevysia says:

OK I really missed the deadline here but I wanted to add my 2 cents… My Hubby and I met in DAoC, he lived in Ohio and I in Florida. To make a long story short we have been married four years and still game together, although he is the one with the maxed toons ~ I suffer terribly from altitis.
