Article is here!

Basically… the kids are all right.

There was an article in one of the major dailies on how most people are actually fine, but all the gloom and doom in the papers is (are?) making us pull in our belts. That seems proven out by the people who say they’re fine, but are still cutting out discretionary spending items. I mean, 10% of the people self-described as “fine” are still not going out to dinner.

Thanks for your contributions, guys. I worked some of your themes into the article itself, so as usual, you guys make me sound smarter…

It’s truly sad to see the DAoC population so low these days.

I’ve been paying for and not playing CoH lately because 1) I am writing for Examiner and probably doing too much research for it, and 2) I’ve been clearing my backlog of Games I Must Play on the Xbox 360 (Fable 2, Fallout 3…still need to do the d/l content and they keep bringing more out) and of course 3) Halo 3 with my crazy friends. I’ll probably get back to CoH in a few weeks and it will feel somewhat shiny again assuming any of my SG/VG are still active.

That is unless you recommend going back to LOTRO (can my 50 hunter still rule the travel and DPS worlds?). I haven’t played since before the Mines of Moria came out.

Oh and “is” is right in your sentence :)

Hunter is still the best single target DPS, and an unrivaled taxi cab. The Mines are easily worth a month or two of sub fees just to see (imo).

Reactions to the current end game are mixed. PvP is currently nearly pointless (the gear rewards pale before gear much more easily obtained in 6 mans), high end (teir VI) crafting is borked (the items you can make for the most part pale before gear easily obtainable in 6 mans ), and there is very little PvE content intended for more than six level 60 players (two boss fights is about all there is). On the plus side, there are an exceptional number of useful end game solo activities (for an MMO).

The group mind is always greater than the individual.

I should also note that, with the opening of the Argent Tournament, I’m back to playing WoW daily, at least to have fun with that. It’s not much, but it’s enough right now to keep my interest. Sometimes it’s just a little something to make it all worthwhile.

great stuff but I wonder why there hasn’t been any good mmos lately. So far the best having been released the last years for me has been a free shard wow server..
So another survey about why current mmos fail? :D

Came over from MMORPG.com. Nice blog. Please don’t eat bees though. They are furry and can bite/sting.
